About the Role
The Director of Business Development will lead growth efforts across U.S. Army accounts, owning pipeline development, opportunity shaping, and revenue execution.
This is a hands-on, externally focused role requiring strong relationships across Army program offices and acquisition stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings a hunter mentality, deep market knowledge, and the ability to convert customer engagement into funded opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Own and execute business development strategy across U.S. Army accounts
Build and manage a qualified pipeline aligned to revenue objectives
Identify, shape, and capture opportunities across Army modernization priorities
Develop relationships with PEOs, PMs, and operational stakeholders
Lead capture efforts from early positioning through contract award
Partner with internal teams to align technical solutions with mission needs
Establish and manage strategic partnerships with primes and integrators
Represent the organization at industry events, demonstrations, and customer engagements
Key Performance Indicators
Pipeline growth and qualification accuracy
Bookings and revenue against target
Opportunity conversion rate (pipeline → award)
Customer engagement and account penetration
Strategic partnership development and effectiveness
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
10+ years of experience in defense business development, sales, or capture
Strong relationships within the U.S. Army ecosystem
Proven track record of building pipeline and closing DoD opportunities
Experience with communications, C4ISR, SATCOM, RF, or related technologies
Understanding of DoD acquisition processes and procurement pathways
Ability to operate independently and drive measurable growth
Preferred:
Prior military experience or direct Army customer background
Experience with defense primes, integrators, or emerging technology firms
Familiarity with Army modernization priorities and funding structures
Demonstrated success in complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
